Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.
For the next 30 days, I’ve decided to abstain from social media and sex. I’ve deleted all the apps from my phone and made a reluctant, if I am being honest, promise to God that I would not share the intimacy of my soul with another person.
I’m reading the book of Jonah this morning, and I’m reflecting on how our obedience is tied to others blessings.
Jonah was sent to give a warning to the people of Nineveh that they would be destroyed because of their wickedness.
Jonah ran away because he didn’t want to be God’s messenger. Of course we know he was swallowed by the whale God sent and stayed in the whales belly until God told it to puke him up.
What’s interesting is when Jonah finally obeyed God and went to the Ninevites with God’s message of destruction, they turned from their wicked ways. They fasted from food & drink and wore sackcloth.
God, recognizing their change, relented on destroying them and many lives were saved.
I can’t help but think about what would have happened to that city had Jonah not obeyed God’s Word. Many souls would have been lost and sent to hell.
However, one act of obedience has the power to change many lives.
So it makes me want to continue to be obedience in the areas God tells me to be. My obedience is tied to someone else’s blessing.
What are your thoughts, friends? What areas must you submit to The Lord? Where must you offer a sacrifice of Obedience?
