Would you deposit your money, your time, your energy, or anything of value to you into something you didn’t believe in? No? Neither would God. Check out what he says here in 2 Corinthians 1:21-22: “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” God values our souls so much that he deposited a piece of His sacred, holy Spirit inside each one of us. What an honor and a privilege to be able to carry the Spirit of God himself. It’s also a great responsibility. When I take my money down to the bank – the money I’ve worked over 50 hours a week for – I expect it to be safe. I expect it to be invested and grown and multiplied. That’s the same for God. He doesn’t expect us to hoard his Spirit, but nurture it, grow it and spread it and share it with others.
We have a responsibility to see ourselves the way God sees us, with all the value that we have. We are His most prized possessions. He loves us so much he gave us his Spirit, his power! That type of access, when we unlock it, can cause chains to break, can eliminate strongholds, it can heal broken places, it can mend damaged spirits. That’s our charge as believers. We have to keep tapping into that deposit. I never runs dry. Even when we can’t see it, it’s there. Our accounts are self- replenishing. The Spirit of God is omnipresent and everlasting. Once he deposited it, He couldn’t renege. That’s one of the beauties of salvation; it goes on and on.
My charge to you is to keep pushing yourself. Keep growing. Keep nurturing your deposit. His Spirit is life and life in abundance, in overflow and fruitfulness. Do not let the enemy or yourself distract you from this truth.
