Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
We’re just a few days into the new year and God has been dealing with me on peace. I started the year off a bit troubled and I have been vexed by some personal matters. It wasn’t until I pressed my way into the doors of the church today did I realize what God has been trying to teach me. For too long, my happiness, my peace has been dependent upon extrinsic matters. But now I know without a shadow of a doubt that I will continue to have an internal turmoil if I do not learn to depend on finding the peace that comes from within – the peace that comes from depending solely and completely on God.
Honestly, I was vexed when I entered service this morning. But God began speaking to me while in service. “Turn it over,” he said. He was commanding me to turn over to Him the things that have had me troubled. Right then, right there, I lifted my hands and surrendered those things over to Him. Immediately, I began to feel better. There I was, trying to be all big and bad and carry things that I have no business carrying, because they all belong to The Lord.
Let me ask you this? What is it that you are carrying that is disrupting your peace? What is it that needs to be turned over to The Lord? God does not want any of us to go through life being trouble by our circumstances. I implore you to turn it over, to let it go. Don’t hold on to it. Let God carry your burdens so you can live in that state of peace He so disparately wants you to be in.
“Lord, we turn over all that is hindering our peace. We turn over our insecurities. We turn over our families. We turn over our marriages. We turn over our careers. We turn over our finances. We turn over our decisions. We turn over our health. We turn over our sanities. We know that You are a God that can do it all. You are GREATER than any problem we have or will ever face. We thank You in advance for our peace. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
Happy New Year to you all! May God bless and prosper you in this new season!
