You are never too broken for God to mend you back together. Your life is never too far off track for you to hand the steering wheel back to God and let Him get you to where He needs you to be. They key is to remember that you are unconditionally loved by The Father. No mistake, no setback, no failure, no sin, no wrong could ever stop God from loving you. If you would just remember that, the Potter can shape you and mold you into everything He created you to be.
“’Go down to the potter’s house, where I will give you my message.’ So I went there and saw the potter working at his wheel. Whenever a piece of pottery turned out imperfect, he would take the clay and make it into something else. Then the LORD said to me, “Haven’t I the right to do with you people of Israel what the potter did with the clay? You are in my hands just like clay in the potter’s hands.” Jeremiah 18:2
Do not let the enemy trick you into thinking that you’ve done so much that you are not worthy of God; that’s just a blatant lie. In the parable of the lost sheep, the bible proclaims that it is better to leave the 99 sheep and go after the one who wanders away. The shepherd will rejoice when what was lost is now found. So, you may be at a point where you are lost. You may be in a valley of shame and disappointment, a valley of mistakes; but God is the Potter. He can take you from the valley and mold you into a new thing, a new creation. You do not have to allow your past mistakes or sins to keep you in a place of bondage. For that is simply not God’s will for your life.
If you would just relinquish control of your life into God’s hands, you’d see that he will transform you and turn your life around; it is never too late, so do not listen to anyone who says differently. Just like the clay, we all have our imperfections, our blemishes – things that we are ashamed of, things that society calls flaws. The good news is that we have access to the Ultimate Potter. When we submit ourselves to His hands, he can rid us of those blemishes, those imperfections. He can make beautiful what others deemed as unsightly. He can use our shame, our past, and our mistakes to refine us and transform us into something we could have never imagined. That’s the power of the Almighty God.
When I reflect over my life, there are plenty of times I’ve felt unworthy of God’s love and mercy. As someone who grew up in church, I was very hard on myself. For me, sin equated to damnation and unforgiveness. What I understand about God now – now that I have my own relationship with Him – is that we all fall short. Everyone. But when we recognize that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of our Father, it gives us the courage to submit ourselves to Him, again and again and again, until we get it right. The most amazing part of it all is that God does not change. So as long as we come back into His grace, he’ll give us a fresh start every time. He’ll love us into wholeness. His love is the refiner, the Potter’s hands. When we remain in His love, he can always make us into a new thing. He can use us to get glory.
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. John 15:9-10
