“So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” -Romans 8:6
Sometimes you wake up and you are just not in the mood. You’re tired of fighting the enemy. You want to give up. And then God sends you the Word you need to strap up and fight again.
The past year has just been hard. The enemy seems to be relentless. I’ve dug myself further and further into the Word and drown myself in church and prayer. Logic says, the enemy will give up, but as a believer, we know that’s when he fights you the hardest.
This morning, I was just really down. My mind was tired of thinking. I found it hard to pray. I didn’t want to get out of bed. All I could do was feel down, deep in sorrow.
Upon arriving to work, my mood was still in a funk. Others noticed it and asked if everything was okay. While sitting at my desk, I searched, “scriptures for when you’re down” on Google. A list of 10 scriptures came up, but the one that stuck out to me the most was scripture 10.
I immediately knew what God was telling me. Instantly, my mood lightening and a smile formed on my lips. First things first, I cannot allow my flesh to rule over my mind. Honestly, there lies the root of most of my problems. And I have control over that.
Whether it is a financial battle, emotional battle, or an outside attack, we have to keep our flesh in check. God gave us dominion over it and we have to access that power and not allow our flesh to win. It is an everyday fight, but God has given us the weapons we need to tame our flesh. Those weapons are rooted deep in the Word of God.
So, I’ll keep this post short and sweet and end it here. But I would like to pray.
Lord, I thank You for sending me Your Word and reminding me of my power. Thank You for giving me new mercy and new grace today, even though I am not worth. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, the redeemer, who paid for my sins.
In Jesus’ name, I bind the enemy. He cannot have my mind. He cannot have my relationships. He cannot have my family. He cannot have my finances. I break every chain and snare that has been set by the enemy. For this moment forward, I live freely through Christ Jesus. Thank You for favor. Thank You for love. Thank You for increase. Thank You for enlarging my territory. And thank You for good health. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
