This weekend while visiting Houston, I got a lot of compliments on one particular look I gave. I decided to do a style blog for it. As simple as these pieces are, individually; cohesively, the entire look is gorgeous and chic. Very nice and well put together men’s wear. Four pieces brought together for one simple effect: #Slayage. If you know me, you know tall-tee’s aren’t necessarily my style, so even purchasing the tall red zipper tee from Zara was a step outside of my comfort zone. But, I am not afraid of a challenge. Before I get into the thought process behind the look, I will tell you where all the pieces are from. Pants, Shirt, and Jacket are all from ZARA aka Fancy’s playground. I love that store. For soooo many reasons, but I’ll save that for another style blog. Black loafers and necklace are from Aldo and Aldo Accessories. Finally, the watch is from Michael Kors. Every man should always wear a watch: whenever, wherever, for whatever!!!!! <- I can’t express that enough. Although you can’t smell the picture, I wore Intensity by Mary Kay Mens Cologne. It’s my fav and one of the ONLY fragrances I wear.
Because I was on a trip, my looks were preplanned. However, things ALWAYS shift last minute. When I woke up on this particular day, I knew I would be going to several different events: brunch, shopping, and a day party. As I internalized the thought of creating a crossover look that I could wear multiple places, I pulled out pieces that I brought on the trip. That day in Houston, it was sunny , so I felt color down in my spirit. I’m not going to lie, when I initially pulled out the red tee and bluish/purple jacket, my initial thought was, “This isn’t going to work.” However, in fashion, you can’t be scared to try new things. I grabbed a simple cropped, ripped jean because it would balance the two extreme colors in the top. Then, I put on a black shoe to neutralize all the colors. Whether you look at the picture from top to bottom, or vice versa, the shoes were definitely the trick of tying all of the knots together. Personally, I don’t think any other colored shoe would have worked. The look would have been too busy.
Most looks need accessories. However, because the colors from the jacket and shirt were the stand-outs, I kept the accessories simple. A wooden dog-tag and a gold MK watch (necessity).
This is probably one of my favorite looks from the weekend. I like to play with fashion. I wouldn’t say I have a particular style anymore. I’ve transcended past dressing one particular way. That gets old and predictable. I encourage each of you to play around with your style. Fashion should be fun!
